Happy Mountain
Goods
Handmade goods carried with you and enjoyed in your home, inspired by West Coast nature and living.
We are grateful to live and create on the unceded territories of the Snuneymuxw and Snaw-naw-as peoples. This land, its forests, coastlines, and mountains, shapes everything we make.
What we make
Natural materials,
simple things
Every piece at Happy Mountain Goods starts with a question: would you treasure this? We work with natural materials, full-grain vegetable-tanned and BC supplied leather, quality hardware, and thoughtful finishes, because things made well should last and should age beautifully in your hands.
Our products are inspired by the textures of West Coast living: the worn leather of a trail pack, the smoothed river stones of a BC beach, the unhurried feeling of a morning in the mountains. We want the things you use every day to carry a little of that feeling with them.
Our products are handmade with care and tell their story in every piece, with a patina over time growing with you.
Meet the maker
Melissa, Artisan and Leathercrafter
By day, Melissa works in project management. By evening and weekend, she is at her bench on Vancouver Island, cutting leather, learning new techniques, foraging in the forest, or beading at the table.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Melissa is of settler Ukrainian and Norwegian and Tsimshian descent. The places and people of BC have shaped everything she makes, from the BC place names given to each product, to the natural palette she works in, to the care she puts into every stitch.
Working with my hands and on personal projects is what brings me joy. Whether it is foraging, camping, leatherwork, or beading, sharing creations and knowledge is what all of this is truly for.
Indigenous Owned
Happy Mountain Goods is proudly Indigenous-owned. Melissa is Tsimshian, with settler Ukrainian and Norwegian heritage. This is a business rooted in the land, in traditional skills, and in the belief that what we make should reflect both.
We dream of bringing makers together and giving curious crafters a place to learn.
Happy Mountain Goods. A vision for a collective of makers who share knowledge, celebrate craft, and share with you.
